You have completed the book review. You have chosen your book. ...but why? What drew you to this story or this particular book?
The theme of our "Senior Read" unit is the idea of "Windows and Mirrors". Would you say that this book acts as a window or mirror for you? No need to give specific reasons (as it may be personal) just let your fellow reader know how this book functions for you.
I chose this book because the story sounded absolutely beautiful. I like the characters and the idea of a family brought together by adoption. It seemed like it had some sort of plot twist as well. This book acts as a "window" for me as I am interested in learning about a different culture and adoption.

I chose this book because of the reviews. It talked about the book being a "Coming of Age"book. That's where I'm at right now, as a student. It talks about friendships, love, being happy, grief, etc. It really sounded like a book that would keep me hooked on it, and I don't read. That's saying something.

DeleteI chose this book because of the book seemed very good and something I could relate to maybe. It deals with love, grief, friendship, and other things. This book acts like a window for me as I am interseted in reading about how they deal with grief and how the characters frindship is and adoption.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response! I hope you love the book as much as I do!

I chose this book because it is a coming of age book. Mrs. Carn made it sound really interesting. I also know what it is like to be adopted. Because I was Adopted. Also I know the struggles wanting to know your real identity and family. I feel like I relate to the author in many ways.
ReplyDeleteSalvador, or Sally, goes through both internal and external challenges. He struggles with his identity. He is recently finding out that he has a violent side, and he doesn't know where it's coming from. He's getting into fights and just getting really angry. That's his internal challenge. At this point in the book, his external challenge is being adopted. He always knew he was, but recently he has been thinking about it more. He wonders if he gets his violent nature from his "real" father. He loves his adopted dad, but it's still unclear how he feels about being adopted at the moment.

Salvador is has trouble figuring out who he is. He doens't understand how he went from being sweet to someone who is angry and ready to fight. He wants to share these feelings to sam but is scared that she won't love him or want to be friends with him anymore. All around he is just trying to find out who he is and he is having troubke with that.
